Parrying dagger
|
Within the American Bladesmith Society, there are a series of tests required to move up the ranks from Apprentice to Journeyman to Master Smith. For the Master Smith test, applicants are required to submit five knives for judging on fit, finish, symmetry, and design, and one of those five must be a dagger. This piece was my submission for the dagger in my Master Smith Test, which I passed in 2021.
I made this piece in the style of a European, left-hand parrying dagger. It features a hollow-ground Damascus blade, blackened steel fittings, and fine silver accents. The grip is Indian rosewood with twisted fluting and fine silver inlayed between the flutes. Price for a similar piece: $15,000 |
